The trial of former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi and his British lawyer David Mills has been adjourned 21 November 2006 to next week after the defence demanded the recusal of one of the judges. 70-year-old Berlusconi, Mills and a dozen other defendants stand accused of tax fraud in the purchase of film rights in the United States by Mediaset, the television group owned by the Berlusconi family. Berlusconi, Italy's richest man, who faces between four and 12 years in jail if convicted, did not appear in the Milan court.
